PUBLIC SWIMMING
Must have Pool Only Card or Activity Card. Admission required with Activity Card or Pool Only Card $1/$2 residents and $2/$3 for nonresidents. Activity Cards may be purchased at gym office Monday through Friday 10am-7pm and Saturday 12noon-4pm.

Time - Tuesday & Thursday 7:30-9:30pm
Saturday 1-4pm until March, 2007
Requirement - Must be able to stand up in water depth shallow end 3 ft
POOL RULES
- Activity Card, Pool Card or season pass required.
- No Running, Pushing, Dunking or Rough Play Allowed.
- No Food, Beverage or Gum in Pool Area.
- Swim Suits Required: No Cut-offs, T-Shirts, or Street Clothes.
- No Diapered Children Allowed in Pool - Must Be Toilet Trained.
- Nothing Made of Glass Allowed in Pool or Pool Areas.
- No Flotation Devices, Masks, Fins, Snorkels, Noodles or Balls.
- No Rain Checks.
- No Smoking or Tobacco Use.
- Obey Lifeguards.
- 12 & Under Must be Accompanied by Individual 16 years of age or Older.
- Parents Are Responsible for Children in the Pool.
- No Profanity or Abusive Language Allowed.
- Everyone Entering Pool Must Pay.
- Forest Park Staff has the Right and Responsibility to Eject/Suspend Anyone from the Pool and/or Facility for Misconduct.
- No Loitering.
WATER AEROBICS

Location - Indoor Pool - Rec. Bldg.
This class is versatile offering a challenge to the beginner and senior exerciser. Held in chest-deep water, it involves stretching and aerobic exercise. For more information call 404-363-2908. Instructor – Margaret Bartlett
WATER EXERCISE
This class meets on Monday and Wednesday 1pm-2pm at the indoor pool. Fee: $15 monthly. Class will start October 2 nd . Class will meet monthly. Instructor – Jackie Fears
WATER WALKING (INDOOR POOL)
Low impact walking and exercising. Class meet on Monday and Wednesday 2:30pm-3:15pm at the indoor pool. Cost - $15 monthly. Is held year round. Instructor - Jackie Fears.
YOUTH SWIM LESSONS @ NIGHT
Beginners Swim lesson Level I-III ages 5-12. Lessons are based on American Red Cross guidelines. Class meets on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-7pm. Class Dates: November 7-December 7 Class will not meet the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 21-23). LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Requirement - Ability to swim 500 yards – Combination of strokes including

SWIM FOR FUN & FITNESS

4. Swim an elementary backstroke - 25 yards
5. Swim a sidestroke - 25 yards
6. Swim a butterfly stroke - 15 yards
7. Float or scull on back in deep water for 1 minute
8. Tread water for 1 minute

Fall/Winter Saturday Swim Lessons
The City of Forest Park Recreation & Leisure Services will be offering swimming lessons this fall/winter 2006. The lessons will take place in the indoor pool on Saturdays. The lessons are for ages 3 years and up. In the preschool class a parent is required to get in the water with the child. Registration will start on September 5, 2006 until classes are filled. The fee is $30 for residents of Forest Park and $40 for non-residents. A parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form prior to the child participating in the swim lessons.

This half hour class is a water adjustment for the child to learn to prevent swallowing water by blowing bubbles, to kick while wearing floatation devices, to reach and use arms. Based on the child's readiness, other skills can be taught such as: submersion, floating on their backs, climbing out at the side of the pool, and, jumping in from the side. The above skills are taught through play and games, such as, riding on a raft, pretending to be on a boat, passing game, and London Bridge .
Since this class is only an introduction, with emphasis on safety, it may be repeated continuously until age six. At that time the child may enter the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. Instructor – Janice Wayte

This Learn-To-Swim Program is based on the American Red Cross guidelines, with an emphasis on safety. Each one-hour class is divided into four or five groups based on age, ability and motivation.
Students learn at their level, performing tasks when they are ready, both physically and psychologically. The levels are as follows:
Level I ~ Introduction to Water Skills
Level II ~ Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Level III ~ Stroke Development
Level IV ~ Stroke Improvement
Level V ~ Stroke Refinement
Level VI ~ Swimming & Skill Proficiency
Each progression incorporates the skills from the previous level. It may take several sessions at the same level for an individual to learn all the skills.
