M I N U T E S

 

REGULAR MEETING OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF OCTOBER 1, 2007

 

 

 

Call to Order:                 The regular meeting of Mayor and Council of October 1, 2007 was called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 7:00 p.m.

 

Invocation:                     The invocation was given by Rev. Fagan of New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

 

Present:                         Mayor Corine Deyton, Mayor Pro-tem Donald Judson, Councilman David Halcome and Councilwomen Sparkle Adams and Debbie Youmans.

 

                                      Also present were City Manager John Parker, Finance Director Mike Blandenburg, Director of Public Works Mike Gippert, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Management Analyst Angela Redding, Director of Support Services Christine Terrell, Major Chris Matson, Chief Eddie Buckholts and City Attorney Joe Harris.

 

Approval of minutes:      Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the minutes of the Work Session of September 17, 2007, seconded by Ms. Adams.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

                                      Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of Mayor and Council of September 17, 2007, seconded by Mr. Halcome.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

                                      Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting of Mayor and Council of September 24, 2007, seconded by Ms. Youmans.  Voting for the motion were Mr. Halcome, Mr. Judson and Ms. Youmans.  Ms. Adams abstained.  The motion carried.

 

Comment Period:           Mr. Glenn Barnett, 811 Sherwood Circle spoke concerning an incident with a pit bull and reported clothes hanging on fences and cars parked in the yard on his street.

 

                                      Mr. Willie Finch, 5268 Albert Drive, reported houses on Kate Drive that have property maintenance issues (tall grass) and a police officer speeding on West Street.

 

                                      Ms. Jeanette Ridley, Davis Drive, stated she had contacted the City concerning limbs hanging on wires and nothing has been done yet.

 

Agenda items:                Mayor Deyton presented Chief Eddie Buckholts with a proclamation on being selected “Fire Chief of the Year” by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs.

 

Amendment – On-         Request was made to consider amendment to a

Premises alcohol            new on-premises consumption alcohol license

License – Buffalo            for liquor, beer and wine for a name change only

Wings and Rings:           for MSI, Group, LLC D/B/A Buffalo Wings and Rings, 842 Main Street.

 

                                      Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the amended alcohol license, seconded by Ms. Youmans.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

Other Business:             Mr. Chip Allen of Linda Way spoke concerning crime on his street.

 

Adjournment:                Ms. Adams made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Youmans.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

                                      The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
