M I N U T E S

WORK SESSION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF MARCH 15, 2010

Call to Order: The Work Session of Mayor and Council of March 15, 2010 was called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 6:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Corine Deyton, Mayor Pro-tem Sparkle Adams, Councilman Donald Judson and Councilwomen Maudie McCord, Karen-Brandee Williams and Linda Lord.

Also present were City Manager John Parker, Director of Finance Mike Blandenburg, Chief Dwayne Hobbs, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Management Analyst Angela Redding, Deputy Director of Recreation and Leisure Services Sharon Smith, Chief Eddie Buckholts, Director of Support Services Christine Terrell, Director of Public Works Mike Gippert and City Attorney Robert Mack.

Agenda Items: There was discussion concerning the appointment of the judges.

Ms. Williams commented that when we make this decision behind closed doors it’s my assumption that we shouldn’t go back later and retract it unless we bring it up officially. She stated I was going to challenge it, if we are going to change our mind later.

Mayor Deyton stated she wanted everyone to be comfortable with their decision and we will go into Executive Session.

Ms. Williams stated if you want to further discuss the comment that I made, that is fine.

Mr. Parker stated their were a couple of opinions that were changed after we had the executive session and those opinions were certainly honored even though they came to me after that meeting.

Mr. Mack stated you still have to come out here and vote and the executive session is for discussion only and so if anyone wants to change their mind they can because it is not a vote, only an expression of opinion.

Ms. Williams stated we were settled in the decision that was made in closed door and then come back later and do that without acknowledging the full governing body.

Ms. Adams made a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters, seconded by Ms. Lord. Voting for the motion was unanimous.

The Governing Body entered into Executive Session at 6:10 p.m.

Mr. Judson made a motion to reconvene the meeting and adjourn, seconded by Ms. Lord. Voting for the motion was unanimous.

The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
