REGULAR MEETING OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF APRIL 4, 2011

 

 

 

Call to Order:               The Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council of April 4, 2011 was called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 7:00 p.m.

 

Invocation:                    The invocation was given by Councilwoman Linda Lord followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

 

Present:                        Mayor Corine Deyton, Councilwomen Linda Lord, Maudie McCord, Karen-Brandee Williams and Councilman Donald Judson.

 

                                    Also present were City Manager John Parker, Director of Finance Mike Blandenburg, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Director of Support Services Christine Terrell, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services Elaine Corley, Deputy Director of Public Works Rusty Still, Chief Eddie Buckholts, Colonel Tommy Orr, Management Analyst Angela Redding and City Attorneys Robert Mack and Joe Harris.

 

                                    Mayor Deyton stated Mayor Pro-tem Sparkle Adams is absent due to her mother having surgery.

 

Comments:                   Mr. Roy Lunsford (Skyland Drive) spoke concerning repaving and patching streets, particularly Phillips Drive.

 

                                    Mr. Carl Evans spoke and asked Council to reconsider raising taxes and putting restrictions on home based businesses.

 

                                    Ms. Diane Gray (West Street) spoke and asked when the branch behind her house would be cleaned.  

 

Southside Clean-          Deputy Director of Public Works Rusty Still and Director of Keep

Up:                               Forest Park Beautiful Edie Yongue informed everyone of the Clean Up of the Southside scheduled for April 16th.  Rusty Still asked that everyone put their trash out by the curb by April 15th and the Public Works crews will begin picking up the trash that next week.

 

On-Premises                Request was made to consider a new on-premises consumption

Consumption                alcohol license for beer only from Rio Grande Restaurant, LLC,

Alcohol License:           Rio Grande No. 2, 5592-5594 Old Dixie Highway, no exceptions

(Rio Grande)                noted.

 

                                    Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the request for a new on-premises consumption alcohol license from Rio Grande Restaurant, seconded by Ms. Lord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

Comments:                   Ms. Williams asked about the Home Occupation License  previously discussed.  Mr. Mack stated he had made the revisions and it would be on the next agenda. 

 

Adjournment:                Ms. Lord made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. McCord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

                                    The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
