WORK SESSION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF JUNE 21, 2010

 

 

 

Call to Order:              The Work Session of Mayor and Council of June 21, 2010 was called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 6:00 p.m.

 

Present:                       Mayor Corine Deyton, Councilman Donald Judson and Councilwomen Maudie McCord, Linda Lord and Karen-Brandee Williams.

 

                                    Also present were Director of Finance Mike Blandenburg, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services Elaine Corley, Director of Support Services Christine Terrell, Management Analyst Angela Redding, Director of Public Works Mike Gippert, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Chief Eddie Buckholts, Major Chris Matson and City Attorney Joe Harris.

 

Agenda Items:            Resolution authorizing License Agreement with Southern Football League:  Ms. Williams stated since we have approved prior resolutions similar to this, is there someone monitoring these dates to make sure there is no scheduling conflict.  Ms. Corley stated yes we do.  Ms. McCord asked if the $200 being charged is an increase from last year.  Ms. Corley stated she believed it was $150 last year.

 

                                    Ms. McCord asked if the Forest Park Youth Football is also charged.   Ms. Corley stated this is an in-house program that is run by a volunteer organization and they offset the cost for use of the concession stand. 

 

                                    Ordinance – Community Economic Adjustment Planning Assistance Grant:  Ms. Williams asked for more clarity on a specific section of the Ordinance, the community economic adjustment planning assistance grant.  Ms. Redding stated we have been receiving this grant since the base was being closed.  The grant pays 90% of all costs related to Fort Gillem and the City’s match is 10%.  It covers salary, travel, any type of contracts and ADC conferences.  The City match is $39,926.00. 

 

                                   

Other Business:           Christine Terrell presented a list of records to the Governing Body  that are going to be destroyed in Archives.  She stated the City uses the Retention Schedule from the State Archives.

 

                                    Mike Gippert informed the Governing Body that security cameras have been installed in and around City Hall.  He stated this is a 16 camera system that the Police Department will be able to monitor.

 

Adjournment:              Mr. Judson made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Lord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.
