WORK SESSION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF JULY 19, 2010

 

 

 

Call to Order:              The Work Session of Mayor and Council of July 19, 2010 was                                            called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 6:00 p.m.

 

Present:                       Mayor Corine Deyton, Mayor Pro-tem Sparkle Adams, Councilman Donald Judson and Councilwomen Karen-Brandee Williams, Maudie McCord and Linda Lord.

 

                                    Also present were City Manager John Parker, Director of Finance Mike Blandenburg, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Director of Support Services Christine Terrell, Director of Public Works Mike Gippert, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services Elaine Corley, Chief Eddie Buckholts, Major Chris Matson, Management Analyst Angela Redding and City Attorney Joe Harris.

 

Agenda items:             There was no discussion concerning agenda items.

 

                                    Ms. Williams asked the status of the organizational meeting of the Ethics Board.  Mr. Parker stated the City Attorney will be providing a date to hold the meeting.

 

                                    Ms. Adams stated the clean-up in Ward 3 went well.  She stated there are two more clean-ups coming up but since the temperatures are so hot, there are less volunteers.  She stated in order to be successful we need the residents to come out and the churches to participate. 

 

                                    Ms. Williams stated she is being proactive as well and is reaching out to the residents in her ward to participate. 

 

                                    Ms. Adams stated we have a structure in place and when we get to Ward 2 we will already have AT & T, AmeriCorps, Home Depot, Forest Park High School.  Ms. Adams stated the City has taken a lead in spearheading these clean-ups.  She stated that is why we are getting the churches in the area involved. 

 

                                    Ms. Williams stated she would like to see us as a council working together a little bit more because we are overseeing the City, coming together and discussing the ideas and plans that we would like to see happen within our Ward and City.

 Adjournment:             Mr. Judson made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Lord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

                                    The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
