REGULAR MEETING OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2008

 

 

 

 

Call to Order:               The Regular meeting of Mayor and Council of September 2, 2008 was called to order by Mayor Corine Deyton at 7:00 p.m.

 

Invocation:                    The invocation was given by Mayor Pro-tem Sparkle Adams followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

 

Roll Call:                      Present were:  Mayor Corine Deyton, Mayor Pro-tem Sparkle Adams, Councilman Donald Judson and Councilwomen Debbie Youmans, Linda Lord and Maudie McCord.

 

                                    Also present were City Manager John Parker, Director of Finance Mike Blandenburg, Director of Public Works Mike Gippert, Director of Planning, Building and Zoning Steve Pearson, Captain Cotrell, Chief Eddie Buckholts, Deputy Director of Recreation and Leisure Services Sharon Smith, Management Analyst Angela Redding and City Attorney Robert Mack.

 

Approval of                  Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the minutes of the Work

Minutes:                       Session of Mayor and Council of August 18th and the Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council of August 18th, seconded by Ms. Adams.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

Comment Period:          No one signed up to speak.

 

On-Premises                Request was made to consider a new on-premises consumption

Consumption -              alcohol license for beer and wine from B & E Bowling, Inc.

B& E Bowling:             Funtime Bowl/Forest Park, 4839 Jonesboro Road.

 

                                    Mr. Judson made a  motion to approve the request from B & E Bowling, Inc., seconded by Ms. Adams.  Voting for the motion was unanimous. 

 

On-Premises                Request was made to consider a new on-premises consumption

Consumption-               alcohol license for beer and wine from El Latino, 4420 Jonesboro

El Latino:                      Road.

                                   

                                    Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the request from El Latino, seconded by Ms. Youmans.  Voting for the motion were Mr. Judson, Ms.Youmans, Ms. Lord and Ms. Adams.  Voting against the motion was Ms. McCord.  The motion passed.

 

On-Premises                Request was made to consider a new on-premises consumption

Consumption -              alcohol license for beer and wine from Thanh Thanh Restaurant,

Thanh Thanh                 4446 Jonesboro Road. 

Restaurant:                  

                                    Mr. Judson made a motion to approve the request from Thanh Thanh Restaurant, seconded by Ms. Lord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

New Retail Alcohol      Request was made to consider a new retail alcohol license for beer

For beer only -             only from Carniceria Garcias #5, Inc. D/B/A Carniceria Garcias

Carniceria Garcias:       #5, 4460 Jonesboro Road.

 

                                    Mr. Judson made a motion to approve a new retail alcohol license for beer only from Carniceria Garcias, seconded by Ms. Youmans.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

Ordinance -                  Request was made to consider an Ordinance by the City Council of the City of Forest Park authorizing the Mayor to sign and accept a Community Economic Adjustment Planning Assistance Grant for Calendar Years 2008 and 2009 from the Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment for the purpose of preparing an Outreach and Comprehensive Reuse Plan for Fort Gillem and to appropriate the matching funds from the Transfer/Capital Replacement Fund Line Item #100-22-1510-61-1001; to provide for severability; to repeal all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith; to provide an effective date; and for other purposes.

 

                                    Ms. Adams made a motion to approve the Ordinance, seconded by Ms. McCord.  Voting for the motion was unanimous.

 

Comments by               Ms. Lord mentioned the Southside Neighborhood Watch meeting

Governing Body:           is held the first Tuesday each month and the Northside Neighborhood Watch meeting is held the third Thursday each month.

 

                                    Ms. Adams mentioned the Teen Council Meeting next week , Good Neighbor Day being held September 27th and  the Senior Expo on October 17th.

 

Adjournment:                Ms. Youmans made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Adams.

                                    Voting for the motion was unanimous.
