Affiliate Board Activity

 

Planning and Zoning Board

 

The Planning and Zoning Board held a Public Hearing on March 5th, 2008 at issue was a petition for a Conditional Use permit for a 0.23 acre parcel of property known as 4425 Burks Rd., Forest Park, Ga. 30297, a 1,352 sq. ft., (1) story, brick structure. (26’x52’)  The current zoning classification of the property is R-95 Single Family Residential. The property owner is Daniel Griffen, 220 Ivey Oaks Way, Roswell, Ga. 30076. The petitioner is Romona Wallace, 1765 Jajef Ave., Conley, Ga. 30228. The Conditional Use Permit was sought to establish and operate a personal care home at this location. It was proposed to provide personal care services to two or more non-family elderly adults within the single family residential structure or home. (Limited to four (4) adults)  The Planning and Zoning Board voted unanimously to not recommend approval to Mayor and Council on the petition.  Subsequently, Council denied the petition unanimously at the regular scheduled council meeting on March 17, 2008.

 

Architectural Design Review Board

 

The Architectural Design Review Board held a meeting on March 25, 2008 to review site plans for Mack’s Auto Sales located at 4620 Old Jonesboro Road, Forest Park, Ga. 30297.  After much discussion the Board voted unanimously to approve the site plans as submitted.

DEPARTMENT OF FIRE/EMS

 

  • The Fire Department welcomes four new employees – FF/EMT Jay Mathis, FF/Paramedic Jennifer Jenkins, FF/Paramedic David Hartwell and FF/EMT Keith King. All of these personnel should prove to be a great asset to the City and we wish them a very long and successful career.

 

  • Fire personnel participated with an engine display and Fire Safety Presentation at the Parkside Crossing Community Safety Day. Kids and parents participated in viewing displays and information gathering.

 

  • FF/EMT Chance Williams, Sgt/Paramedic David Flagg and Capt. Sam Batten volunteered to participate in the Read Across America Program at Fountain Elementary.

 

  • Fire personnel presented Fire Safety Education utilizing the Fire Safety House at the City’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt/Safety Festival at Starr Park. Approximately 160 children attended the event.

 

  • A fire engine display was conducted in conjunction with Career Day at Fountain Elementary School and Lollipop Day Care Center. Firefighters also conducted classes on Fire Safety Education.

 

  • Major Matt Jackson attended a 2-day conference – EMS Changes – which is designed to keep medical personnel updated on changes in the ever-evolving EMS field.

 

  • All fire personnel are in process of annual renewal training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
