Start Smart Basketball prepares children and their parents for organized basketball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. This is a six week parent-child program. GIRLS FAST PITCH SOFTBALL CLINICS
City of Forest Park Recreation and Leisure Services will be hosting softball clinics for girls ages 8-16 years old. These clinics will cover the basic fundamentals of fast pitch softball: throwing, catching and fielding. Clinic dates are: September 23, October 21, November 11, December 9, 2006 10am-12noon. Coaches are welcome to participate and learn. Fee: $20 per person.

BATON
Classes taught by the staff of the internationally known Georgia 's Youth on Parade. These classes will offer instruction in baton twirling. For students ages 5-18 years of age, and Pom-Pom Dance classes for students 8-18 years old. Georgia Youth on Parade has conducted classes at the Forest Park Recreation Department since 1982. Classes run September 2006 thru April 2007

BALLET, TAP, JAZZ
3-5 yr olds meet Saturday 9am-10am in the Small Room at Recreation Center . Fee: $40 monthly. Ages 6 and up meets 12noon-1:45pm on Saturday in the Multi-Use Room at the Recreation Center . Fee: $40 monthly. Adult and boys tap is available. Instructors: Kyon Parker and Maynica Jackson have over 20 years of dancing experience combined. They have won numerous awards in ballet, tap, hip-hop and jazz.
CREATIVE ARTS and CRAFTS CLASSES
Classes will combine music with different concepts of art for all ages. The instructor will provide the necessary tools for class, unless otherwise noted. The classes will work with fabrics, woodcrafts, paper, clay, and paints. The classes will run for four (4) weeks and meet at Community Building #1 as follows:
Teens – Thursday, October 5 – 5pm-6pm

MARTIAL ARTS
Learn Karate to increase physical fitness, build coordination, increase memory, self defense and develop a positive attitude. Join the Chess Club! Come and stimulate your mind. Forest Park Chess Club is for beginners to advanced players, ages 13 years and over. WEIGHT LIFTING

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
Age Group - 15 & over

Class Dates - February 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21 5pm-9:30pm; Saturday, March 17, 12noon-6pm Requirement - Ability to swim 500 yards – Combination of strokes including Breast, crawl, back, side and Elementary back; tread water up to Two (2) minutes and secure ten (10) pound object from bottom of Pool.

CARDIO KIDS FUNK
This fun exercise program will introduce your child ages 4-11 years to physical fitness activities with a fun and interactive approach. Children will participate in activities such as kickball, fun aerobics, relay races and so much more. Your child's weight will be monitored and recorded so you may see the progress. Your child will be taught the importance of healthy eating habits, and through this program, how to become a team player. Class starts September 2006. Cost: $40 per month. Time: Fridays 6:30pm-8pm; Saturdays 10am-11:30am.

HAWAIIAN/HULA CLASS
This is a fun class geared toward teaching not only basics, but steps to popular dances like Pearly Shells, Tiny Bubbles (small children). The Hukilay and Little Brown Gal (ages 10-15), Aloha Week Hula and I Am Hawaii (16-22), Lovely Hula Hands and Blue Hawaii (women). Beginners steps for Tahitian or Polynesian will be included, choreography for at least two Tahitian songs like The Hawaii Five-O and Bora-Bora. At the end of the course all classes can be organized to perform a program to show their skills. Class Date: September 11, 2006. Class Time: 6pm-7pm Fee: $20/residents, $30/nonresidents monthly. DANCE INSTRUCTION
Elite Productions in partnership with Forest Park Recreation Center will offer dance instruction. These classes will include drama, step, and liturgical dance. The charge is $15/per class for individual classes, $125/month for classes offered 2 days a week, and $85/month for classes offered 1 day a week. Students who register for more than one class will receive a $40 discount. The registration fee is $20 per child. The schedule will be the following:
